Sorry, I goofed up and killed the earlier version of this thread after a spam one appeared. I think I can summarize the earlier one as:
- Someone noted that the .HSI files fit well into how MESS already works and can work with the wiki for compiling the lists - Haze will only accept fully hardcoded data inside the executable like MAME (currently) works - Everyone agrees current console dump formats suck, but good luck changing them

Isn't 3 competing sources enough already?
I guess these submits are here to show how the code could work. Nothing (except emu-politics ) should prevent from using an already established source once the framework has stabilized.
We wouldn't be competing, ideally we would only add known good dumps documenting the software released for a system. Anything not in the list can of course still be loaded through the already existing routines.

Known good according to who? NoIntro or Goodxxx? Or some other party?
For the epoch game pocket computer we got direct rom dumps from the chips on the cartridges, so we know those are good.
The lists will require time and effort to create and expand them. A lot of information is already out there and it makes sense to re-use that information.
