Aha, now i see, sorry, didn't quite understand when you said that "SDLMAME's UI elements use GTK+". I didn't saw it because I am just an arcade user/gamer smile I understand now it is not a one gconf line... But I think you still should not think like problem is solved... For now I use sdlmame on desktop, on laptop I installed raine but I can not play all my favorites games frown
Thanks!

Can I get some clarification - is gconf required by ALL builds now?

I'm planning on my almost-annual "see how well I can get newest MAME working in an embedded Linux form on a JAMMA cab" project soon and if there are unremovable dependencies for any parts of a DE with this I might as well not bother starting and just throw Windows on smile

Gconf and GTK+ are required to compile and run MAME. I don't understand how that's an impossible limitation when your alternative is to install an entire Windows system which includes far more crud than a minimal GNOME install though. (To be clear: GNOME and X don't have to be running for MAME to run unless you use -debug).

I've just found out about "minimum" Windows (requires 200mb+ of disk space even with absolutely everything stripped out).

If gconf and GTK+ are just required for compilation but not for execution that's great.

To clarify - I'm trying to put a system together that consists of kernel, busybox, and any media libraries needed for sound & video. The OS and MAME will need to fit into 128MB of disk as I've got a couple of IDE flash drives lying around this size. Having libs that are essentially part of a DE on a system that will never run a DE feels unnecessary wink
